Zong Yi Ng

Zong Yi Ng joined Air Liquide Singapore as a Management Associate in 2015 and is now working as a Data & System Analyst with the Electronics Performance Analytics Centre in Singapore.

  • Tell me more about you! 

Although I graduated with a degree in Bioengineering, I have always taken an interest in chemical processes and numbers. Upon graduation, I began researching Graduate Programmes that could provide high-impact development experiences to enable me to gain a foothold in the ever-changing engineering industry and yet at the same time hone my business acumen and management skills. The result? I found the Management Associate program of Air Liquide to be a good fit!

I joined Air Liquide Singapore as a Management Associate in 2015 and my first-year assignment was as an Operations Engineer with the Large Industries business line, and subsequently moved on to Electronics as a Product Quality Engineer.

Today, I am working as a Data & System Analyst with the Electronics Performance Analytics Centre in Singapore. I am responsible for designing and developing new tools for analytical, predictive, and optimization technologies relating to product quality, process stability, industrial risks, and supply chain continuity.

Upon graduation, I began researching Graduate Programmes that could provide high-impact development experiences. The result? I found the Management Associate program of Air Liquide to be a good fit!  
  • The project you are the most proud of…

During my appointment as a Product Quality Engineer, I had the opportunity to embark on the 6 sigma green belt project. The project provided many platforms for me to work with several stakeholders from different functions and learn about their work processes, this gave me more exposure to other topics that I was not familiar with. I was later appointed as a Continuous Improvement leader, the journey was enriching and great for my personal development. It was light-hearted to observe that many became more receptive to these continuous improvement initiatives. And when you see how some of the projects came to fruition, it brought about satisfaction to me.

  • How would you define Electronics’ innovation spirit?

We operate in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment driven by the rapid advances of technology. As such, organizations and people need to be adaptable and resilient in order to succeed in the modern economy. 

Air Liquide is definitely putting us in a good position with resources and investment put into its infrastructure, technology, and people. Its relentless drive for Smart Innovative Operations and Continuous Improvement has also inculcated a strong learning culture where people are willing to share. You learn something new every day from different people.
